Examinations in the university are held under the overall supervision of the Controller of Examinations in consultation with the Chairman PG Council, who acts as the Centre Superintendent of examinations. The Controller of Examinations is assisted by Deputy controllers of examination, Officer-in-Charge, and ministerial staff, all of whom constitute the Examination Section. The purpose of the Examination Section is to ensure smooth and free-and-fair conduct of examinations. Matters concerning setting of question papers, evaluation of answer scripts, constitution of Board of Studies (BoS), Board of Moderators for scrutinising manuscripts of question papers, Board of Conducting Examiners (BoCE) for publication of results are decided by Controller of Examinations subject to approval by the PG Council of the University. Fees structure for UG and PG students and remuneration rates for teaching and non-teaching staff are decided as per the Examination Regulations. These rates are modified from time to time.

In consonance with the mandate of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the University follows a semester mode of examination and it has also implemented the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) curriculum both at UG and PG levels. Each department has its own Board of Studies, which approves the syllabus. The marking scheme of the examinations follow a 100 Marks pattern for each paper out of which 20 Marks are meant for Mid-Semester Examinations and 80 marks are reserved for end-semester examinations. 50% of the papers are evaluated by external examiners and rest 50% are internally evaluated. Each academic session is divided over two semesters namely odd (July to December) and even semester (January to June).
