Seminars and Workshops

The Department of Odia organized a state-level seminar on the theme “Bishwayan re Odia Bhagabatra Bhumika” on 26 September 2023. Dr Santosh Kumar Mahapatra and Jogendranath Sahoo joined as guests and the OSD-cum-Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Pratap Kumar Mohanty was also present at the seminar. The objectives of the seminar were to add to scholarly conversations around the text and to emphasize the moral import of the Bhagabat, and its relevance in everyday life.

Department of B.ED

The Department of B.ED. organized a two-day workshop titled “ Developing Lesson Plan through 5E and ICON Design Model: Theory and Practices” on 22–23 December 2023. The workshop was aimed at incorporating new approaches towards pedagogy and witnessed insightful discussions on the subject. The 5E model is a pedagogical framework comprising five stages—Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate—designed to structure effective lesson planning and foster interactive learning experiences. The ICON model outlines a structured approach for lesson planning through six components: Introduction, Connect, Overview, New Information, Independent Practice, and Closure. Eminent resource persons from the field spoke on the topic and suggested means of engaging further with the subject of the seminar.

Departments of Commerce & Professional Studies

The PG departments of Commerce & Professional Studies, Dharanidhar University Keonjhar jointly organized a two-day national seminar on “Emerging Trends in Commerce and Management” on 27 and 28 January 2024. The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Pratap Kumar Mohanty, OSD-cum-Vice Chancellor, Dharanidhar University. Eminent intellectuals and experts from the field such as Prof. Rajendra Prasad Das Vice Chancellor, Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University Assam, Prof. Debasish Sur, Professor of Commerce, University of Burdwan, West Bengal, Mr Anurag Ojha, Regional Manager, Odisha Mining Corporation, Gandhamardan, Suakathi, Keonjhar, Prof. P. K. Pradhan, Retd. Professor in Commerce, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Prof. Sathya Swaroop Debasish, Professor and Head of Department of Business Administration Utkal University, Bhubaneswar attended the seminar and spoke on the importance of the topic. Additionally, two technical sessions dealt with diverse aspects of the central theme of the seminar.

Political Science National Seminar

A National seminar was organized by the P.G Dept. of Political Science on the Topic “Democratic Decentralisation: Issues and Challenges” on 16 November 2023. The keynote speaker was Dr Jyotirmayee Tudu, Associate Professor, Centre for Political Studies, School of Social Science, JNU, New Delhi. He presented a paper on the topic by focussing on strengthening local governance to boost democratic decentralization in India. Other Dignitaries included Mr Satya Narayan Jena, Assistant Professor, KIIT School of Law, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, and Dr Arun Ray Assistant Professor in Political Science, MPC Autonomous College, Baripada.

World Odia Language Conclave

The Government of Odisha, to promote the rich literary and cultural heritage of Odia and Odisha organized a state-wide conclave across educational institutions at different levels. As a part of the same program, Dharanidhar University organized a 3-day conclave featuring eminent writers, scholars, and poets from 29 to 31 January 2024. The inaugural event was graced by eminent author and translator Padmashree Damayanti Besra, Former minister of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha, and present MLA, Ghasipura, Sri Badri Narayan Patra and Vice-Chancellor Utkal University of Culture, Professor Prasanna Kumar Swain. The speakers deliberated on the role the Odia language has played in shaping the history of the state. They urged the students to foster a sense of appreciation for the language and contribute to building its rich legacy. The valedictory session had as its guest an eminent social activist and Padmashree-awardee Tulasi Munda. Smt. Munda lays stress upon the tremendous potential that Dharanidhar University bears in promoting higher education in Keonjhar. The event witnessed several intellectually stimulating sessions and scintillating performances by various student groups and individuals.

The conference aims to provide a forum for academicians, scientists, technologists, industries, and young researchers for interaction, idea exchange, and knowledge sharing about recent advances made in the field of Material Science Being multidisciplinary in nature, Material Science encompasses a wide range pertaining to chemical science, physical science, biological science, engineering science applied to health, energy, and environment (viz drug discovery, tissue engineering, bioelectronics, biosensors, energy sectors, etc No wonder why, it is of utmost importance for socio-economic welfare of the community.
