Dharnidhar University, Keonjhar was established in 2023. The University offers teaching at the under graduate level in subjects like Anthropology, English, Economics, History, Philosophy, Political science, Oriya and Sanskrit in humanities stream, in commerce and in Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology in Science stream.
Spread over an area of 71 acres, the university has two campuses, namely North and South Campus, and its jurisdiction extends over the whole of Keonjhar district.There are 19 undergraduate departments and 20 post graduate departments(including 3 self-financed departments). 39 colleges are affiliated to the university. There are a total number of 59 regular faculty members, out of which 54 were earlier appointed at the college and were subsequently deployed at the university. Presently 25 guest faculties have been engaged in various teaching departments. The state government has made provisions for temporary engagement of 236 retired/adjunct/guest faculties for the institution at the levels of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor. The University has disability friendly barrier-free environment.
Having a website is an absolute must in today’s educational landscape. The benefits of a well-designed and updated website are manifold. Effective communication is the backbone of any successfully educational institution. In the digital era, the first interaction many have with the institutions is through its website.
I am glad to know that the newly established Dharanidhar University, Keonjhar has revamped and update its website. I hope, the website would not only showcase the University’s accomplishments and values but at the same time would ensure that every from prospective students, current students, Faculty, and alumni to those who take interest in the University stays are well informed and connected and benefited. This accessibility would enhance the University’s reach, help create a strong brand identity of the University which instil a sense of belonging and pride among all concerned.

Leading Dharanidhar University— a newly established university in the name of a prominent tribal leader, Biplabi Dharanidhar, and located in the tribal heartland of Odisha— is indeed a matter of great honour as well as challenge. Known for its unwavering commitment to learning, creativity, common good, empathy and diversity, the institution has continuously evolved and remapped its structural, academic and social knowledge base, since its inception as a college in 1957. As a fledgling university, it needs collective care, empathy and loyalty from students, faculty, and patronage of alumni and the civil society at large in articulating an inspiring vision.
In my endeavour to shape this institution into a magnificent monument to education , I earnestly solicit cooperation and help from all corners to fulfil its vision of promoting high quality education and research, envisaging and designing a broad-based and flexible curricula (as conceptualised in NEP 2020), emphasising skill development and socio-cultural inclusivity, promoting indigenous knowledge systems and knowledge creation— through innovation and research— for first-generation learners, harnessing technology for academic growth, widening the scope for collaboration and employment generation, building strong bonds with alumni and all other stake holders–– all of which are aimed at catering to local and regional needs while aspiring to achieve global standards.
