Department Of Geology

The Department of Geology of Dharanidhar University is located at the headquarters of the Keonjhar district in the northern part of Odisha. The department was started with an intermediate course in 1957. Later, geology was introduced as honors at the B.Sc. level in 1974. Gradually, the department was upgraded with the introduction of post-graduation in geology in 1992, with affiliation from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. In 1999, the college was affiliated with North Odisha University at Baripada, in the adjoining district of Mayurbhanj. Keonjhar is home to a huge tribal people with a diversity of dialects and cultures, as well as abundant resources of forest, water, minerals, flora, and animals. This department primarily produces geologists in order to fulfill mining and earth-science related activities.
