In order to encourage bright and industrious students, who come from underprivileged backgrounds, the university with the support of state and central governments provides financial assistance through numerous scholarship schemes. A few non-government trusts also offer financial assistance to students. There are scholarships, which act as incentives for students to perform well in academics such as the e-medhabruti scheme of Government of Odisha and the National Scholarship offered by UGC.

Some of the schemes like the Post-Matric Scholarship instituted by Government of Odisha, are particularly helpful for students, who belong to marginalised sections of the society. Over the years, a number of students have benefitted from the state supported initiatives and graduated with flying colours. Dr Niraja Nalini Nayak (Assistant Professor, Department of English) is presently the Nodal officer of the scholarship cell of the university.
