The university gives utmost importance to research and development and has therefore established an R&D Cell to promote scholarship, motivate faculty members and young scholars to explore new and cutting-edge areas of research. The cell aims at facilitating research activities in the university, collaboration between academia and industry, and initiating students into research. There is a well-defined R&D policy in place. The R&D Cell of the university is headed by a director; Dr Sridhar Sanyasi (Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry) is the present incumbent.

Within a few days of its establishment, the R&D cell has become active and vibrant. The achievements of our faculty members and students bear testimony to the shaping influence of the cell.

Message from Director, R& D Cell

Dharanidhar University, which is located in Keonjhar is uniquely blessed with diverse cultures and is rich in mineral resources. The ecology and the biodiversity of the region provide unique opportunities for researchers of the university. The Research & Development Cell of the University has been established to aid the University in its pursuit of knowledge and for creating a research eco-system, which would explore diverse indigenous cultures, tap into the region’s rich natural resources and biodiversity.

I am sure, the university will attain excellence and carve a niche for itself in the global research arena. The R&D cell of the University will play a pivotal role in finding real-time solutions to a wide range of local as well as global challenges with respect to livelihood, agriculture, food security, climate change, water, air pollution etc. It will also boost the local economy, contribute to national growth and development. Ultimately, it aims to fulfil the national mission “Viksit Bharat 2047”. Moreover, it will enrich global research repository and play its part in addressing the challenges faced by the world-community.

Research Policy

Objective

  • To create an organizational structure with role-based functions of RDC, formulate Research Policy for the University, identify thrust areas of research, and form related cluster groups/ frontline teams/consortia of researchers.
  • To create enabling provisions in Research Policies for recruitment of research personnel, procurement of equipment, and financial management with adequate autonomy to the Principal Investigator(s) and disseminate research outcomes to stakeholders and the public at large.
  • To establish a special purpose vehicle to promote researchers and innovators, identify potential collaborators from industry, research organizations, academic institutions & other stakeholders for cooperation and synergistic partnerships.
  • To act as a liaison between researchers & relevant research funding agencies, extend guidance in preparation & submission of project proposals and post-sanctioning of the grants to oversee adherence to timelines.
  • To have better coordination among other cells/centers dealing with University-Industry Inter Linkage, Incubation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
  • To develop an Institutional Research Information System for sharing the status of ongoing / completed research projects / Programmes, expertise & resources, etc., making effective use of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) for preparing the database of in-house experts to provide industrial consultancy and services.
  • To engage & utilize the services of superannuated active faculty/scientists in research capacity building of talented young minds and promote mobility of researchers across institutions and R&D Labs.
  • To serve as nodal center for ideation and conceptualization of research topics/themes by organizing workshops and training programs and ensuring the integrity and ethical practices in research activities including clearance of bioethical committee wherever required.
