The NSS unit of the erstwhile Dharanidhar (Autonomous) College was established in the year 1981 and has been working tirelessly from the year of its inception for actualising the vision of National Service Scheme. A total of 100 volunteers are presently enrolled in the NSS unit of the university. Various activities are carried out and initiatives are undertaken from time to time such as distribution of blankets and restoring water supply in villages, and organising awareness campaigns against child marriage, tobacco, and alcohol consumption. The university has adopted Kabitra Village.

Presently the NSS unit is headed by Sri Narendra Kumar Sahoo (Registrar, Dharanidhar University), Dr. Anupama Dash (Asst. Professor in

Chemistry) is the District Programme Officer and Dr. Sarita Nayak (Asst. Professor in Anthropology) is the current Programme Officer of the university.

  • Filaria Medicine Distribution Programme was organised on 1 August 2023 to raise awareness against filaria and administer free doses of anti-filaria drug to students and faculty members. Around 3000 students participated in the programme

  • “International Day of The Girl Child” was observed by District Child Protection Department On 10. 2023. NSS coordinator, Dharanidar University attended the programme as chief guest.
  • A blood donation camp was organized on 3 November 2023 in which 70 units of blood were collected
  • A workshop was organised on the occasion of ‘Bishwa Bhatritwa Divas (Universal day of Brotherhood) from 8 September to 11 September 2023.The theme of the workshop was “Empowering Women Through Legal Literacy Campaign In Odisha”.

  • NSS Volunteers participated in a two-day workshop on the theme: “Empowerment of Women Through Legal Literacy Campaign” held at the District Collectorate, Keonjhar on 29 and 30 January 2024. The event was jointly organised by SWATI (SOCIAL WELFARE AGENCY AND TRAINING INSTITUTE) and U.S. Consulate General, Hyderabad
