Department Of Sociology

The Department of Sociology was established in the year 2018 in the erstwhile Dharanidhar Autonomous College, Keonjhar with 3 years B.A. Honors with total six semesters. The Post Graduation course was started in the year 2023. This department serves as a hub for teaching, research and social responsibility for promoting human societies and their behavioral pluralism. The department organizes seminars, field visits, talks which are not only socially relevant but also satisfies the needs of the students.

HOD's Message

Welcome to the Department of Sociology, Dharanidhar University, Keonjhar. This department is a very young department and since its inception in 2018, it mainly focuses on imparting knowledge, creating awareness among students and scholars to excel in their future professional career. This department motivates students to be involved in research work, organizing and attending seminars, workshops periodically. As a part of social responsibility, this department mainly emphasizes on tribal upliftment and their sustainable development. We expect cooperation from every corner to achieve success and reach at our goal.

To uplift the tribal community as social responsibility.
To undertake research to study different societies from sociological perspective.
To disseminate knowledge on Sociology as a discipline.

Mission

About the mission of this department, it creates awareness, imparting education, encouraging particularly the tribal community for economic development, employability and sustainability. It also encourages students for research work, NET- JRF and Civil Services examinations for future career.
